He has over 25 years of experience in anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, financial intelligence analysis, forensic accounting, financial investigation, accounting, and finance.<\/p><p>He served as the Head of Forensic Accounting and Financial Investigation at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and as the Deputy Head of the Monitoring and Analysis Department at the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU). He was also an Assistant Professor of Forensic Accounting and Auditing at Newcastle Business School, United Kingdom, and previously worked in the banking sector with the former Afribank Plc and Stanbic Bank.<\/p><p>Dr. Bello holds a PhD in Anti-Money Laundering Compliance from Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, United Kingdom; an MSc in Forensic Accounting from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom; and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi; a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Islamic Sciences; and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom, among other qualifications.<\/p><p>Dr. Bello is the author of the book <em>Improving Anti-Money Laundering Compliance<\/em>, published by Palgrave Macmillan, a renowned international publisher based in London.<\/p><p>He was also a member of an international research team that conducted a study titled <em>Practical Interventions for Uncovering and Identifying Beneficial Ownership as a Mechanism to Recover the Proceeds of Corruption: A Nigerian Case Study<\/em>. The research was supported by the United Kingdom&#8217;s Department for International Development (DFID) under the Global Integrity Anti-Corruption Evidence Programme.<\/p><p>Dr. Bello is from Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State. He was born on January 10, 1974.
