It is a constitutional obligation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does \u201cDeclare or Forfeit\u201d mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It simply means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fully disclose what you own<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or risk losing it to the government<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the law administered by the Code of Conduct Bureau, every public officer must submit a truthful and complete declaration of assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part of what you must declare?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Land and buildings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bank accounts, cash, and investments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicles and other valuable property<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business interests and shares<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jewellery, artworks, and other high-value assets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Failure to declare or inability to justify how an asset was acquired;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May trigger forfeiture proceedings. In such cases, the property can be legally transferred to the Nigerian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are paid from public funds, transparency is your protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Declare honestly. Declare completely.
