HEAD OF DEPARTMENT – Okorocha Ifeanyi, FCA
Establishment of the department of proceeds of crime recovery and management is in line
with the provision of the POCA ACT 2022. Part II section 3. The functions and activities of the
department are as follows:
FUNCTIONS.
- Take over and assume responsibility for the proper and effective management of
properties forfeited. - Set standards to be applied in the handling of properties forfeited.
- Ensure accountability in the management of all the forfeited asset/properties.
- Ensure effective administration and management of forfeited asset/properties.
- Establish and maintain asset management and disposal procedures.
- Keep and maintain accurate statistics, data and inventory of all asset with records of
their location, value, condition and description of their (asset) status in relation to
any proceedings before court. - Liase with federal ministry of justice to negotiate the return and management of all
assets seized from foreign countries on behalf of the federal or state government, or
any other victim for the benefit of Nigerians. - Collaborate with other government bodies outside Nigeria that are carrying
functions, wholly or in part similar to it. - Recommend training of departmental staff on management and disposal of proceeds
of crime and related matters.
ACTIVITIES.
- For the first time since inception, PCRM and II&M made recoveries of ill-gotten funds
from some public officers. - Training on Case files and policy files on the 5the of February 2025, presented by the
Director, II&M; Dr. Farouk Dogondaji. - Training on Asset recovery, interim and final forfeiture and disposal process according
to the POCA act on the 7th of February 2025, delivered by the Director II&M; Dr.
Farouk Dogondaji and two other staff from the EFCC. - Zonal Training on Forensics, Intelligence, POCA sensitization/ financial analysis for
North central Zone on the 11th of April 2025; presented by Chairman CCB, Dr.
Abdullahi Usman Bello FCCA, CFE and Director PCRM; Okorocha Ifeanyi FCA.
