ACTING HEAD OF DEPARTMENT – Barr. Samuel Yahaya
STRUCTURE:
The Legal Department has one division headed by an Acting Director/Legal Adviser. It has a staff strength of eight (8) Legal Officers and three (3) support staff.
The Legal Department has the following functions: –
- Providing legal advice and opinion to the Bureau;
- Liaising with the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation on matters pertaining to the Bureau’s statutory duties.
- Prosecution of Public Officers who contravene the Code of Conduct for Public Officers
- Representing the Bureau in matters of interest before other Courts.
- Prepares legal briefs and case files for prosecution before the Code of Conduct Tribunal and prosecutes cases referred to the Tribunal.
- Drafting and vetting of Agreements, Contracts and Memoranda of understanding between the Bureau and other entities.
- Ensures effective collaboration in the investigation and prosecution of cases involving breaches of the codes of conduct for public officers.
- Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies and government bodies on matters of mutual legal interest.
- Monitors changes in relevant laws and advise the Bureau on necessary adjustments to its procedures and policies.
- Perform any other functions as directed by the Bureau.
