The Fight against corruption requires a shift from prosecuting offenders to a transformational approach where one addresses systemic flaws and cultural norms that enable corrupt practices to flourish.
The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello FCCA,
FHEA, CFE, made this known at an executive session for CEOs organised by the ICPC on Wednesday, 13th November, in Abuja.
He noted that loopholes in regulations, weak institutions and cultural impunity allow corruption spread like a disaster.
The Chairman CCB commended the efforts of the ICPC for championing the Ethics and Integrity Policy.
Dr Bello, however noted that the ethical conduct which Public Officers are expected to hold are spelt out in the 5th Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
The key note speaker, Prof Atahiru Jega stressed the need for all CEOs to establish and maintain moral boundaries which govern the decision-making process to reduce the margin of compromise.
