If you earn any form of salary from the Nigerian government, your Assets and Liabilities Declaration Form is not optional. It is a constitutional obligation.

What does “Declare or Forfeit” mean?

It simply means:

  • Fully disclose what you own
  • Or risk losing it to the government

Under the law administered by the Code of Conduct Bureau, every public officer must submit a truthful and complete declaration of assets.

Part of what you must declare?

  • Land and buildings
  • Bank accounts, cash, and investments
  • Vehicles and other valuable property
  • Business interests and shares
  • Jewellery, artworks, and other high-value assets

Failure to declare or inability to justify how an asset was acquired;

May trigger forfeiture proceedings. In such cases, the property can be legally transferred to the Nigerian government.

If you are paid from public funds, transparency is your protection.

Declare honestly. Declare completely. Avoid forfeiture.
